Samsung's New Flagships: Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Samsung has finally announced their new flagships - the S6 and S6 Edge, which will now clean up all the rumors. We were expecting only the S6 phone which is a sequal to the Galaxy S collection. But, they really surprised us with their dual edge display in the Galaxy S6 EDGE. It is a revolutionary display even though they did make a Note edge...

Let's see what are the features and improvements of these two flagships!

Display-

The Galaxy S6 has a 5.1" super AMOLED display like the S5 which is amazing and the videos, text and pics are just crisp and clear, Even zooming in gives you a good amount of detail, which is cool. The screen resolution is 1,440 x 2,560. The S6's pixel density is amazing with a 576 ppi. It's 5.5" screen is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4... The display is premium.

The Galaxy S6 Edge also has the same specs as the S6.

Design-

The S6 has a simple and plain design... The outer cover is covered by gorilla glass 4 like the front screen. So, you do get a complete scratch resistance. This time it was cool as they didn't have any plastic like most of the Samsung phones we have seen in the past...

The S6 Edge is also made up of Gorilla Glass 3 Protection on both the sides. The design is completely different as it has a dual-edged screen which requiered Samsung a heating process up to 800 degrees Celsius!

The S6 is just a 132g heavy, whereas the S6 Edge is 138g heavy, which not much different.

Memory and RAM-

The S6 supports max of 128 internal memory, there are other variants though. Both of these flagships have 3 GB LPDDR4 RAM in them. So it will not lag that easily and multi-tasking will be easier for the EU.

Software-

Well, Samsung has realized that TouchWiz should be more utilized with relating to android. There aren't many bloat because now they are add-ons i.e., if you like then only you can install them and those bloat wont be pre-installed. You do have to deal with the heavy and slow TouchWiz on top of Android like a black shadow....

You still can flash CyanogenMod's custom ROM of S6 once they release an official version. I'll link it once they do that...

Hardware-

Samsung has ditched Qualcomm(they supply their own snapdragon chipsets to most of the android and windows phones) and have started to punch in Samsung's own Exynos 7420 chipset. Talking about the CPU, S6 has a OCTA CORE(Quad-Core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Quad-Core 2.1 GHz). The Galaxy S6 Edge is the same here again.

Camera-

S6 has a 16 megapixel rear camera which is a typical camera standard of the Galaxy S family.  It does support 2988 x 5312 p. Samsung did a great job by adding the Optical Image Stabilization feature in their flagships. As usual, auto-focus is supported and it has a decent LED flash. It shoots 4K videos which is 2160p

The front camera is 5 megapixels. It shoots Full HD 1080p videos which is just amazing. And other usual features like HDR, panorama etc are there. Samsung provides such high tech specs for the S6 and edge which is awesome!

Battery-

S6- 2,600 mAh; S6 Edge- 2,550 mAh. The battery life for 5" (approx) phones which Samsung provides is around 2500 mAh, and is just amazing. I love it... The battery is user replaceable for both the flagships.

Touch to unlock- Well, Samsung has finally taken a bite of an Apple. They have their new touch unlocker placed on the Home button itself... It is fast and works fine.

New in the edge- The S6 Edge has various new features which are more than The Note Edge's... It has 'People's Edge' where you can pull from the edge display to the main screen to pop out 5 of your fav. contacts/friends and you can also call and message them. If someone is calling you there is a beautiful light flashing through the edges to notify you.

Ultimately, Samsung has done a good job with the S6 and extraordinary idea of S6 edge, a quiet good premium feeling and looking phone with cool hardware and camera. Still it has TouchWiz... But don't worry CyanogenMod is there and they'll soon have a .zip ROM for S6 soon... Even though these phones are not released yet. It is gonna in April...
