ROOTING: Android Devices

Android is not that safe as iOS. This is because you can not only jailbreak it but also flash custom binaries! That is nothing but a custom ROM. You can have custom recoveries etc. But all of this may void your warranty!

What is rooting?

Android users might have come across the term 'rooting'/'root access' while searching across the internet... Now, rooting is a very important step in android devices which has to be done properly. IF you mess it up somewhere then your device might get bricked(not in a working condition anymore). First, let's start with what rooting even exactly is -

Rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphonestablets and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's sub-system.

Advantages:-

1. Flash a custom ROM

2. Easy back-ups with Titanium Back-up app
3. Block ads in any app
4. Boost your phone's speed and Battery life
5. With the help of Tasker app you can do a whole lot more - toggling 3G, changing CPU speed, these require root access.

Minor Disadvantages:-

This 'rooting' certainly can be relaxing your life, but this definitely voids your warranty. But, that might be the last thing you folks might worry about! And as I said, if you mess up somewhere in such a simple process, the device is gonna be bricked! For some devices like Micromax, RCA and other local companies which are not settled internationally are not recognised by Kingo software... So, make sure you don't have a local branded device.

How to root

In this advanced world, where technology has reached up limits, there are many ways to root your android phone/device... The easiest method I know and I do personally recommend to users is that Kingo ROOT (Software Application) method, plus this doesn't brick your device... Here follow how to -

  1. Head over to website by clicking - Kingo ROOT
  2. Press the Green Download button
  3. When it finishes, run through the Setup Wizard
  4. After it's done run it... A blue windows will appear
  5. Connect your android device which is to be rooted(before that Go to developer options under setting and enable USB Debugging; If Developer Options aren't there then go to About Device and click Build No. 7-8 times which enables Developer Mode)
  6. Once, it's recognized Kingo will show up the device name and model no. where you're supposed to click root or something similar.
  7. Sit back and relax till both do the work.
* After the rooting finishes your device will restart automatically. If it fails by any chance don't worry just do it again...

After the root is finished, an app called SuperSU will be installed on your device. It's made by Chainfire, and allows other apps to gain root access...

    1. Tanuj, Rooting is a part of something which neither Samsung nor any other android device supported brands appreciate. It's not even that the cops will come to you and say, "Hey kid, better not do that otherwise ur gonna get taken by some ugly old foster parents!"... Well, it's ur wish and will, if u want to. Rooting is a very important part in voiding your warranty... this will never harm your device unless you do something stupid like - unplugging the phone in the mid-process, or your computer crashes...
